Cedar Grove-Belgium got its second wrestler into tonight's finals when sophomore Brandon Garcia pinned Stratford's Kevin Bubolz in 1:44 at 135 pounds. He faces Zeb Secrist of Cochran Fountain City-Alma (44-1). Garcia joins Nick Wendt (103) in the finals.
Senior Jon Walvoord, who finished third at 112 last year, was pinned in his quarterfinal match and will try to wrestleback to third this year.
Meanwhile, Sheboygan Falls, which qualified the most area wrestlers, is struggling. All six Falcons who competed Thursday lost, and the string has continued today. Freshman 103 pounder Nathan Brown lost his quarterfinal 10-0 and Tony Johnson suffered his second loss of the season with a 4-1 loss to Tony Madigan of Lodi. Brown and Johnson wrestle later today in consolations and can still take thirds, but the state meet so far has to be a disappointment for coach Fred Brown.
